Count G - Saturn Research 1

SATURN RESEARCH 1 is the first in a series of exploratory albums that showcase Count G in his outer flights. All music is improvised, one-take or in some cases with a second one-take overdub. It’s the closest we get to how Count G would perform a live show, solo with his keys and his devices in the dark.

As the title clearly suggests, the existential spirit and musical attitude that permeates these pieces is a cosmic offering to the venerable Sonny Blount for his ancestral guidance. We travel the spaceways.

Recorded on select full moon evenings during the span of two years (2024-2026) in The Boys Room, Riverside Studios, New York City. Mixed and mastered at Terra Infirma.

“Dante’s vowels” is an improvisation for solo clarinet.

“Aliens on blazing earth” is the finale from a 30-minute composition written for a film by Zissis Kotionis, premiered as part of his art installation with the same name at Gallery 8 in Athens, Greece (June 19-30, 2025).
