This installment is part 2 of a 3 part story. Part 1 is here.
Professor Niels Rauch looked down at the rolling Kent countryside far below. The bubble window in front of him offered an excellent 180 degree view in all directions from the comfort of his favourite armchair. He ran his left hand through his beard absentmindedly and listened to his stomach rumble in anticipation of lunch. He was seated in the observation bubble of The Annalise, a half globe of specialty glass attached to the rear of the airship’s gondola. He often came down here to escape the “family” and think, which he had been doing quite successfully for the last fifteen minutes.
